Mykhailo Mudryk of Shakhtar Donetsk is available for €100 million, and Chelsea have outwitted Premier League table-topping rivals Arsenal in the battle to get him.

Mudryk has been on Arsenal’s radar for some time, and on Thursday night, they made a bid for the Ukrainian winger worth €95 million, which, when broken down, consists of a €70 million base price and €25 million in add-ons.

In an unexpected change of events, transfer analyst Fabrizio Romano revealed exclusively on Saturday night that the Chelsea board was in Poland attempting to verbally agree with Shakhtar to steal the deal from Arsenal with a €100 million offer.

TRANSFER: Chelsea Sign Atletico Madrid Forward, Joao Felix On Loan

An hour after a deal was agreed, he said that Mudryk would fly to London on Saturday night to finalize the terms. Chelsea was pressing for a long-term contract of seven years, which would keep Mudryk, 22, at Stamford until 2030.

Additionally, a formal statement from Shakhtar confirming the deal reads, “Today, Mykhailo Mudryk’s transfer to Chelsea FC was discussed by Shakhtar President Akhmetov and Chelsea co-owner Behdad Eghbali” (Saturday). The transfer of the player to the club is nearly finalized by the parties.

Chelsea hopes to complete the transfer this weekend because Mudryk will be traveling to London with his agency and have medical exams scheduled for Sunday (today).

Although Mudryk had always aspired to play for Arsenal, fans had assumed that his move to the club was finalized because the winger had shared a few Arsenal matches on social media.

Managing Chelsea Is The Most Difficult Job In Football – Potter

Chelsea, meanwhile, has had a difficult season thus far and is presently tenth in the Premier League standings.

In a bruising 2-1 loss to Fulham on Thursday, they suffered their eighth EPL defeat of the year, and new addition Joao Felix was sent off on his Blues debut just one day after joining on loan from Atletico Madrid.

With Joao Felix out for the upcoming three games against Crystal Palace, Liverpool, and Fulham, and Aubameyang expected to leave Stamford Bridge due to his poor play since joining the Blues from Barcelona in September 2022, Chelsea has taken a desperate step and given Arsenal the opportunity to lead the race to sign Mudryk.
