Protesters stopped key roads in Osogbo and Ilesa on Saturday, reportedly in protest of the Election Petition Tribunal’s decision to remove Senator Ademola Adeleke as governor.
The demonstrators who obstructed vehicle movement along the Osogbo/Ikirun route also blocked traffic on the Gbongan/Osogbo road and beat up several commercial motorcyclists who were working in the area.

While many commuters were stranded and had to walk considerable distances to their destinations, several businesses remained closed for fear of being attacked by hoodlums.

The convoy of the State Commissioner of Police, Mr Kehinde Longe, was halted in Igbona Area by some people who were thought to be members of the transport management committee.

When contacted for a reaction, Osun Police Command spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola, said, “more men have been deployed to the identified spots where roads were blocked to traffic. The situation is under control.”
