Dr. Oby Ezekwesili, a former education minister, has criticized the Central Bank of Nigeria’s (CBN) Naira swap program.
Ezekwesili charged that the Federal Government was using the CBN to pursue political “criminals it knows” rather than focusing on fiscal and monetary policy.
She made the statement on Channels Television’s The 2023 Verdict, a special election program, on Sunday.

“But there’s a second thing that we seem to be solving for, which has now taken ascendancy over the monetary policy. We are using the Central Bank to solve the problem of criminality in our politics,” she stated.
She went on to say that what the CBN has done has agitated citizens, poor ladies in the market, and those just scraping by, and that they are now struggling as a result of the criminality in the country’s politics.
