Nigeria Decides: 73-Year-Old Woman Arrested By EFCC, Two Others With 20 PVCs In Benin

Comfort Muoneke, 73, was detained in Benin City by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for possessing 20 Permanent Voter Cards.

According to news sources, the EFCC said in a statement posted on its Facebook page on Sunday that two of the suspect’s accomplices, Afekhana Esther and Segun Osaimokhai, were also apprehended.

The anti-corruption agency stated that the suspects provided valuable information and would be charged in court at the completion of the inquiry.

The EFCC said: “Operatives of the Benin Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, have arrested three persons for being in possession of several Permanent Voter Cards.

“One of the suspects, Afekhana Esther, was arrested at Ward 1, St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Ikpoba Okha, Benin City with 20 PVCs belonging to different people.

“She claimed that the cards were handed over to her by the duo of Comfort Muoneke, a 73-year-old woman and Segun Osaimokhai.

“The suspects have made useful statements and will be arraigned in court as soon as the investigation is completed.”

Meanwhile, voters and election officials in Zamfara State were in mourning when a pregnant woman, Shamsiya Ibrahim, reportedly fell and died during the presidential and national assembly elections on Saturday.

The patriotic citizen, who was significantly pregnant, slumped and died while waiting in line to vote for her favourite candidate at her polling unit in Zamfara’s Tsafe Area.

According to reports, she was transported to Tsafe General Hospital after collapsing in line, but a resident doctor confirmed her death upon arrival.

According to Channels News, Shamsiya traveled 50 kilometers from the Kotorkoshi district of Bungudu Local Government to Tsafe town to fulfill her civic duty.
