Abaribe Floors Gov. Ikpeazu, Retains Abia South Senatorial Seat

Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe has been declared the victor of the Abia-South Senatorial District election by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, was defeated by Abaribe.

He campaigned on the All Progressives Grand Alliance, or APGA, platform.

The returning officer for the election, Prof. Georgina Ugwuanyi, declared the lawmaker winner on Tuesday in Aba.

Abaribe received 49,693 votes, defeating Labour Party candidate Chinedu Onyeizu, who received 43,903 votes, and Ikpeazu, who received 28,422 votes.
