Three suspects are being sought by the Anambra State Police Command after they are accused of fatally stabbing a man named Chikodili in Ogidi, Anambra State’s Idemili North Local Government Area, over a dispute over N1,600.

According to information obtained by ANAEDOONLINE Metro, Chikodili, an Ebonyi State native, worked as a scrap trader at Tarzan Junction along the Onitsha-Enugu Expressway, Nkpor, in the Idemili North LGA, till his death.

It was discovered that the Chikodili was with the suspects when they got into a fight over splitting the N1,600.

An eyewitness said that the disagreement turned violent and that one of the accused fatally stabbed the victim as a result. He declined to provide his identity to our correspondent for security concerns.

The eyewitness said, “The deceased and the suspects earlier had a prolonged argument at their place of work over the sharing formula of N1,600 which prompted the intervention of a master trader before the disagreement was temporarily resolved.

“But the resolution did not go down well with the suspects and some hours later, they invited Chikodili to a drinking joint but he ignored their invitation knowing full well that they still wanted to harm him because the resolution was not in their favour.
“They eventually caught the deceased on a bike, and held him tight while one of the suspects used a broken bottle to stab him in the neck and head. He immediately slumped to death and the suspects fled.”
Our correspondent gathered that Chikodili’s corpse was deposited at the Iyi-Enu Hospital morgue in Ogidi by the police who were said to have concluded plans for an autopsy.

During a visit to the deceased’s mother at her residence in Nkpor, while crying, she demanded justice.
Confirming the incident, the Ogidi Divisional Police Officer, Sani Ahmed, said they were on the trail of the assailants.

“None of the suspects has been arrested; we have commenced a manhunt for the fleeing assailants. We will get them, the corpse of the deceased has been deposited in the morgue,” Ahmed said.
