The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company Plc has stated that the present power outage in several parts of the South-East is the result of a strike by an organised labour union in Imo State.
According to the organisation, the strike has caused the shutdown of its source of supplies, leaving it with no electricity to distribute.

These were revealed in a statement signed by EEDC’s Head of Corporate Communications, Emeka Ezeh, on Saturday.

It further stated that the impacted communities should ensure that the power infrastructures that serve them are not assaulted by vandals who may seek to take advantage of the situation to attack and vandalise electricity equipment.

The statement read, “The EEDC wishes to inform her esteemed customers that the loss of supply currently being experienced is a result of the industrial action by the organised labour union in Imo State.
“This led to the shutting down of our source of supply, leaving us with no energy to distribute.

“We, therefore, appeal to our customers to be vigilant and ensure the electricity infrastructures serving them are not attacked by vandals who might want to take advantage of the situation to attack and vandalise electricity facilities.”
