Presidential Election: Wike Reveals Candidate G5 Governors Worked For (Video)

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has revealed the party/candidate for which the G5 Governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) worked in the 2023 presidential election.

When addressing at the launching of Igwuruta internal roads in Rivers State’s Ikwerre Local Government Area (LGA) on Thursday, the Governor openly admitted that the G5 did not work for the PDP and its candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

He stated that the G5/integrity group decided that power must be returned to the south, and he is glad to announce that they did so.

The G5 Governors – Nyesom Wike (Rivers), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Okezie Ikepazu (Abia), Samuel Ortom (Benue), and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu) – had declined to campaign for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, according to news reports.

They demanded on Iyorchia Ayu’s resignation as PDP national chairman and his replacement with a southerner as the only condition for supporting Atiku.

The disgruntled Governors, on the other hand, have not openly announced their support for another candidate other than Ortom, who has already declared his support for Labour Party’s Peter Obi.

However, Governor Wike revealed on Thursday at the project commissioning in Rivers State that the G5 Governors agreed to work for both the Labour Party and the All Progressives Congress (APC), both of which have southern presidential candidates in the person of Peter Obi and Bola Tinubu, respectively.

Wike stated that they agreed in their separate states that if the APC comes first, the Labour Party must come second, and if the Labour Party comes first, the APC must come second.
