2023 Guber: ‘If We Have Issues Uploading Results, This Our Plan B’ – INEC

The Independent National Election Commission (INEC) has pledged that the problems with the result viewing portal that occurred during the presidential election will not be repeated in the gubernatorial election.

The electoral board stated that the issues have been resolved in advance of the March 18 gubernatorial elections.

According to news reports, INEC promised to upload real-time results from voting units during the February 25 presidential elections.

Yet, even after voting was completed in some polling units, the IReV portal remained offline for an extended period of time.

During an interview on Channels Television on Sunday, INEC National Commissioner Festus Okoye indicated that if there are problems with the uploading of results, they have another option.

The electoral body noted that they already have an option B if things do not go as planned.

Okoye said, “So we have made the necessary amendments, we have learned the necessary lessons from this and we have also activated an option B in terms of how we approach the issue of result upload.

“If we have any challenge relating to the uploading of polling unit results, the ICT knows what to do so that we don’t have the type of challenge we had during the presidential election.”
