Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has promised to challenge his suspension by a court in Benue State.

Remember that a Makurdi High Court presided over by Justice Wilfred Kpochin issued an interim order prohibiting Ayu from posing as the PDP chairman.

The order was given by the court on Monday in response to an ex-parte application filed by a PDP member, Conrad Utaan.

A 15-paragraph affidavit and three evidence, including the applicant’s PDP membership card, receipt of payment of dues, and a copy of the resolution of the PDP Executive of the Igyorov Council Ward of Gboko Local Government Area suspending Ayu, backed up the claim.

Ayu told Leadership that he will go to court to get the decree removing him from office overturned.

“We will move to court to vacate it timely,” Ayu stated through his special assistant on Media and Communications, Simon Imobo-Tswam.

However, the PDP has stated that it cannot comment on the implications of the court decision prohibiting Ayu from presenting himself as national chairman until it has a copy of the judgment.

PDP national press secretary, Hon Debo Ologunagba, stated that he cannot comment on the situation because he has not seen the order.

In response to a question from Leadetship, Ologunagba stated that the party will reply appropriately once it receives a copy of the court order.

“I can only comment on the issue after I have seen the document. I do not doubt your source but I have to see the document. It will not be right to comment without seeing it,” he said.
