We Thought The ‘Obidient’ And Peter Obi Wave Was A Joke – Former Minister

Former Information Minister Labaran Maku has disclosed that both the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) expected Peter Obi to perform poorly in the 2023 presidential election.

He did, however, say that the successes of Peter Obi, the Labour Party (LP), and the obidient movement startled Nigeria’s two major parties.

Maku stated on Channels TV Sunrise Daily on Tuesday that they thought Peter Obi lacked the framework to win elections, but the outcome of the 2023 presidential election dispelled their fears because the youths took initiative and took advantage of the scenario.

The former Minister spoke against the backdrop of the PDP and APC’s setback at the hands of the Labour Party in Nasarawa State’s presidential election on February 25.

He claimed that while the PDP was lost in Nasarawa, the APC was much more defeated because the party’s national chairman, Abdullahi Adamu, is from the state and the party also has an incumbent Governor in office.

Maku, a PDP chieftain, claimed that both parties underestimated the Labour Party, but that the APC did worse in Nasarawa State despite having advantages that should have worked in its favor.
