Delta Police Seize Firearms After Apprehending Suspected Armed Robber

During a stop and search operation, officers from the Delta State Police Command detained Joseph Vincent, a suspected armed robber.

ANAEDOONLINE According to Metro, the man was detained at around 10 a.m. on Sunday along the Jeremi/Iwhrekan route in Delta State’s Ughelli South Local Government Area.

The suspect was detained after a stop and search, according to a statement made by DSP Bright Edafe, the police public relations officer for Delta State Command.

According to the PPRO, the agents of Dragon 18 and 29 stopped and searched a tricycle with the registration number GBB 022 UN being driven by Isreal Sibito and carrying three girls and one male passenger while they were on duty along Jeremi/Iwhrekan route in Ughelli South LGA.

“While the search was being carried out, the male passenger who was later identified as Joseph Vincent, aged 24 years, jumped down from the tricycle and ran into a nearby bush in an attempt to escape, and he was given a hot chase by the operatives and arrested”, the police spokesman stated.

The PPRO disclosed that when a thorough search was conducted on the suspect, two locally fabricated Berretta pistols were recovered from him.

The police spokesman said that an investigation is ongoing into the matter.
Meanwhile, the police command has emphasized commitment to its core mandate which is the protection of lives and property just as it urged members of the public to exercise patience whenever they are subjected to stop and search by operatives.
