The Adamawa Governorship election has been won by Senator Aisha Dahiru Binani.
On Sunday morning, Prof. Hudu Yunusa Ari, the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) Resident Electoral Commissioner for Adamawa, declared Binani the winner.
According to news sources, Binani’s victory makes her Nigeria’s first elected female governor.

At precisely 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, INEC started collating the results of the governorship election, and the local government returning officers sent the results from Demsa and Yola South Local Government Areas to the collation center.
This news outlet previously claimed that after the results from 10 councils were combined, the incumbent governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Fintiri, was in the lead with votes.
Fintiri is running on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) platform.
When results from eight council areas, in addition to Demsa and Yola South, first came out, Fintiri increased his lead of 31,249 votes with victories in Demsa, Lamurde, Jada, Ganye, Song, Maiha, Hong, and Shelleng. APC candidate Binani, on the other hand, only won in Yola North and Yola South out of ten council areas.

Professor Yunusa Ari’s announcement of Binani as the poll’s winner before the planned time for collation, however, was followed by controversies.
