Professor Wole Soyinka, a Nobel laureate, has denied making any statements about the details of the recently ended general elections for 2023 in a post that went viral.

Newsmen has learned that the WhatsApp post that went viral over the weekend stated that Soyinka had admitted to being a supporter of Atiku Abubakar, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and Peter Obi, all of the Labour Party (LP), the All Progressive Congress (APC), and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

However, the Nobel laureate advised Nigerians to reject the message in a statement released on Sunday, describing such false viral tweets as the work of sick people looking for attention for their cowardice.

However, he urged people to have the guts to sign their remarks with their names as a mark of originality rather than hiding their identities to give the appearance of validity to the fabrications of their dishonest minds.

He said: “Again let it be known to one and all that I did not authorize the viral post being circulated on social media. Nigerians should please disregard the post attributed to me as I never made such comments.”
