2023: Unlike Tinubu I Have No Drugs And Identity Scandals – Atiku

Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) presidential candidate, has claimed that Bola Tinubu’s proclamation as the All Progressives Congress’ (APC) candidate for president-elect is illegal and in violation of the constitution.

Atiku said that unlike Tinubu, who has had drug and identity controversies, he has been able to run for president without attracting any negative attention.

In his response to Tinubu and the APC’s response to his suit disputing the procedures and results of the February 25 presidential election, the former vice president made this statement on Wednesday.

In contrast to the President-elect, the PDP candidate claimed that there has never been any dispute about his age, place of birth, or educational background.

The former vice president insisted that Tinubu is ineligible to run for president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria under the constitution.

He noted that Tinubu’s designation as the next president cannot stand, noting further that “Tinubu holds dual citizenship of Nigeria and Guinea, having voluntarily acquired the citizenship of the Republic of Guinea”.

Additionally, he said that Tinubu is unqualified to lead Nigeria since he was charged with drug-related crimes in the USA and forced to forfeit $460,000 as part of a settlement agreement.

In a similar vein, Atiku charged Tinubu with breaking the law by failing to provide information on his constitutional qualifications in his Form EC9 submission to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Reasons Why I Want Presidential Election Cancelled – Atiku

Atiku argued that Tinubu and the APC were never declared the winners of a majority of the valid votes cast in the presidential election on February 25 in support of his plea for the recognition of Tinubu as the winner.

The PDP presidential candidate claimed, among other things, that Tinubu fell short of some constitutional requirements since he was unable to win 25% of the votes cast in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), as required by the constitution.
