FG Commences Evacuation Of Nigerians From Sudan To Egypt

Following the beginning of hostilities in the North African nation, the Federal Government has acknowledged that the evacuation of Nigerians trapped in Sudan has officially begun.

It was confirmed on Wednesday as Geoffrey Onyeama, the minister of foreign affairs, and Zubairu Dada, the minister of state, were addressing State House Correspondents on the crisis’ developing circumstances.

According to Onyeama, there are already 40 luxurious buses waiting to pick up Nigerian nationals in Sudan and transport them to Egypt, where they will be flown back to their country.

FG To Rescue Nigerians Stranded In Sudan

According to him, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FERMA) and the Nigerian embassy in Sudan are working together to organize the evacuation activities.

The Ministers stated that the cost of the buses used to transport our citizens to Egyptian land was $1.2 million, which also included the expense of security.

The priority will be given to women and children, as well as diplomats who are equally involved in the logistics of the evacuation, said both ministers.

They pointed out that the Nigerian government was taking advantage of the agreed-upon 72-hour ceasefire to evacuate as many citizens as it could.

FG Warns Nigerians In Sudan To Avoid Going To The Borders

The Saudi Arabian government has already evacuated some Nigerians to safety via the sea, according to Ambassador Dada, and plans will be made to return them to Nigeria once things have calmed down.
