Godswill Akpabio, a former minister of Niger Delta affairs, has been invited for questioning by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) as part of a probe into allegations of corruption against him.

This comes amid rumors that Bola Tinubu, the president-elect, has supported him for the position of the 10th Senate President.

According to Punch, there have been claims that the Niger Delta Development Commission, led by Akpabio, was the victim of an N40 billion fraud.

In 2022, the National Assembly decided to look into the NDDC’s Interim Management Committee’s reported N40 billion in financial irresponsibility.

Additionally, the EFCC had been looking into allegations of over N86 billion in contract scams involving the senator-elect and Prof. Kemebradikumo Pondei, a former Acting Managing Director of the NDDC.
