The P-Square team of Paul and Peter Okoye asserted that Wizkid, Davido, Burna Boy, and other prominent figures wouldn’t have ruled the afrobeats music market if it weren’t for their divorce.

The twin musical group said that from over 14 years until their brief breakup in 2016, when other acts were given the opportunity to shine, they ruled the Nigerian and African music scenes.

On a recent episode of The 77 Podcast, P-Square made an appearance.

Peter responded to reports that afrobeats gained popularity abroad while they were away by asking, “Says who? Never did they say that.

Paul added, “Let me tell you something, I’ve been hearing that. Even if they put it that way, it means some way God has his own way. If we were there [together in the music industry] those people [dominant music stars] there would have never been light for them. And don’t forget, we’ve dominated the [Nigerian] music industry for a long time. We held it down for nearly 13,14 years.”
