Tinubu’s Visit: Wike Proclaims Public Holiday In Rivers

For the people of Rivers state, Governor Nyesom Wike has declared Wednesday, May 3, a public holiday in honour of President-elect Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s two-day visit.

On Wednesday and the following day, Tinubu is set to inaugurate the modern Magistrates’ Court Complex in Port Harcourt and the Rumuola/Rumuokwuta Flyover during his visit.

It is a privilege for the government and people of Rivers State to welcome the President-Elect on this historic visit, Wike said in a State broadcast on Tuesday. In order to show our President-Elect Rivers hospitality and to commission these legacy projects to God’s glory and the benefit of our development, I implore all Rivers residents to turn out in large numbers.

“I hereby declare Wednesday, 3rd May 2023, a public holiday to enable the people of Rivers State to receive our President-Elect in rousing welcome. All shops and business premises along Rumuola to Rumuokwuta roads in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the State shall remain closed from 8.00 a.m. to 3.00 p.m. on Wednesday, 3rd May 2023. I urge all labour unions and security agencies to comply with this closure order.”
