Man Stabs Co-Worker To Death

On Tuesday, a Yaba Magistrates’ Court remanded one Nyagh Isaiah in custody for the suspected murder of his coworker, Kingsley Kator, in the Mushin area of Lagos State.

Magistrate P.E Nwaka remanded the 35-year-old on one count of murder.

The defendant, Thomas Nurudeen, committed the offence on April 9, 2023, at 1pm in the Ojuelegba region of Lagos State, according to the prosecution.

Nurudeen said in court that the deceased was slain while the two were fighting with guns and a shattered bottle.

According to the charge, the offence contravened Section 222 and is punishable under Section 223 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2015.

The charge read, “That you, Nyagh Isaiah, on April 9, 2023, around 1pm, at the Ojuelegba area of Lagos State, in the Lagos Magisterial District did unlawfully kill one Kingsley Kator, aged 27 years by stabbing him to death with a broken bottle and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 223 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2015.”

The prosecutor prayed the court to remand the defendant at the Ikoyi Custodial Centre pending the issuance of legal advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecution.

The defendant’s plea was, however ,not taken and in his ruling, the magistrate, Nwaka, granted the prosecutor’s request and ordered that the defendant be remanded pending the DPP’s advice.

Nwaka also adjourned the case till May 25, 2023, for trial.
