After his current contract with Paris Saint-Germain expires on June 30, 2023, Lionel Messi will leave the organization.

Messi and the club are no longer interested in the arrangement, even if there was a “agreement in principle” for him to continue at PSG for an additional year.

According to rumors, the Argentine footballer’s agent and father, Jorge Messi, have spoken about the player’s choice with PSG’s football consultant, Luis Campos.

Transfer: Messi Now free To Speak With EPL Clubs

Due to financial difficulties, the 2022 FIFA World Cup champion has questions about the French team’s ability to compete at the best level of European football. He thinks that PSG’s spending may be limited in the upcoming season to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations, which could jeopardize the team’s financial stability.

Messi’s recent refusal to sign a new contract, on the other hand, has reportedly angered PSG since they think it indicates that he doesn’t want to stay.

PSG punished the 35-year-old with a two-week suspension for his unapproved trip to Saudi Arabia on Tuesday.

Despite Barcelona’s desire to lure the forward back to the Nou Camp this summer, a transfer to his old team seems less realistic given the La Liga leaders’ financial difficulties.

Messi has two offers on the table: one from Major League Soccer’s Inter Miami and the other, a startling 400 million euro offer to play in Saudi Arabia for a year.

The 35-year-old Argentine football legend, though, is confident that he can continue to play at the highest level in European football and, like his longtime rival Cristiano Ronaldo, win a fifth Champions League championship.
