”The key to realizing a dream is to focus not on success but significance, and then even the small steps and little victories along your path will take on greater meaning.” – Oprah Winfrey.

The story of Goddy Aniabor is one that brought tears and pain to my heart. A man who attained the pinnacle of success through fraudulent means and painfully lost everything.

Goddy Aniabor, the publisher of the now-retired Hearts Magazine, was renowned for both his generosity of spirit and his deep wallet when he was at the height of his success and wealth.

Goddy, who is now a taxi driver on the streets of Lagos, made money from Yahoo, known as 419 at the time.

He used the funds to launch many businesses, including the

1) The Heart Magazine, a soft-sell romance publication that competed fiercely with Hints Magazine, which is no longer in print.

As it was our first exposure to sex and a platform that provided us with sex education and everything we needed to know about sex, my generation grew up reading both Hints and Heart magazines.

2) Goddy Aniabor established a color printing company that worked with numerous media outlets, including The This Day and Punch newspapers.

Even though security guard firms have not yet gained widespread acceptance, he also had a security firm and was one of the pioneers.

Beyond all of these businesses, Goddy was wealthy in each and every one of them. He once acknowledged that in 1990, he had 3 billion naira in Equity Bank. In that time period, three (3) billion naira were equivalent to 70 billion today. He was that wealthy, in fact.

He was adored by Nigerian ladies, especially the large newborns of Lagos who are now our mothers and grandmothers. He looks out for his women and empowers them as well.

As there were so many camped in various guest houses and hotels in Lagos, and he was taking turns sleeping with them one after the other, it was said that he could camp a babe at the Sheraton hotel without seeing her for three months.

Therefore, it will take some time before you get to enjoy his magnificent, royal penis.

He was also adored by the Sheraton Hotel, who counted him as their most important individual client and a constant source of guests.

He once covered the hotel’s 86 million naira bill for his visitors. At the time, there were 86 naira to every dollar.

Without him, Owambe gatherings are incomplete. He was reckless with money and might squander a million naira in one go. His favorite characters were Shina Peter and Sunny Ade.

He saved many men from poverty, which is to his credit. Car salespeople also adored him. He drove high-end vehicles, and whenever a new Rolls-Royce was released in Nigeria, he was among the first to drive one.

In his garage, he keeps up to 59 vehicles, including Bentleys, SUVs, and Rolls-Royces. He lived life like the Odogwu of the 1990s.

Today, 62-year-old Goddy can only think back on the good times because all he has left are the memories of his extravagant past and the women he once had affairs with.

He now works as a cab driver in Lagos to pay his bill, a shadow of the man he once was.

With the exception of Mike Biggy, who resides somewhere in Akowonjo, all of his pals, sycophants, girlfriends, side ladies, and even the men he helped escape poverty have abandoned him to his poverty. He took care of his bills and rented him a home.

This individual previously had homes in GRA Ikeja and Allen Avenue, many of which served as guesthouses (Lekki didn’t exist at the time), but today he is living at the mercy of his benefactor.

It was reported that Anthonia, his party-loving wife, left him behind when she relocated to another country with their children.

Obviously, the man’s wealth was what drew her in, and he soon found himself in financial trouble. She vanished with the children and they are currently residing in the UK.

The “Grass to Grace” tale by Goddy Aniabor offers some food for thought for my generation. Stay away from scammers and Yahoo. Fraud never pays.

That money will ultimately be wasted because it is only a temporary fix and source of pleasure.

Goddy lost everything easily because he didn’t work hard for it; instead, he achieved success through deceit, which is the simple route.

The only way to become and remain wealthy is to make investments and manage your money wisely. Anything more would be an anomaly and unsustainable.

In all you do as a person, never doubt the power of little beginning. Stay clean and devoted to your legal means of greatness, and surely, success will be achieved.
