Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, vice president of Nigeria, and Mr. Godwin Obaseki, governor of Edo State, joined former presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan in paying tribute to the Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Duoye Diri over his fathers death.
Both the Labour Party’s (LP) Peter Obi and the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) Atiku Abubakar, who are running for president in 2023, were in attendance.
The ceremony took place at St. Peter’s Anglican Church in Sampou, Kolokumokokuma, Bayelsa State.
Take Education Seriously, Obi Counsels Nigerian Students
The late Pa Abraham Joseph Michael Diri was honored by Governor Obaseki for leaving a lasting legacy in education.
He underlined the value of education in developing the character and leadership skills of people like the governor of Bayelsa, who was raised by a successful teacher.
Obaseki also emphasized the value of education for individuals, families, and societies, emphasizing the importance of basic education as the cornerstone of progress.
He referred to the late Pa Diri as a “light to his community,” having had a significant influence on many people’s lives.
A number of other governors from other states in Nigeria showed their support and paid their respects by attending the ceremony.
