The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party (LP) have been cautioned to cease using the courts as bargaining chips, according to a spokesperson for Bola Tinubu (President-elect), Mr. Bayo Onanuga.

Onanuga claimed that both parties had “mounted a desperate campaign for the postponement of the President-elect’s inauguration on May 29.” He defined these surrogates as attorneys, priests, and some ethnic groupings.

The 2023 election, he asserted, was the finest and most free, fair, and transparent since the second republic.

In a statement released on Monday via his Twitter account, Onanuga criticized Cardinal John Onaiyekan, the emeritus Catholic Bishop of Abuja, for his assertion that the election was rigged, claiming that the assertion was nothing more than a lie and malicious propaganda spread repeatedly by the opposition parties and their supporters.

His remarks were made just after the presidential election petition tribunal’s Monday hearing started.

The spokesperson declared that the 2023 elections, which he called the best since the restoration of democracy in 1999, were significantly improved by the implementation of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System, or BVAS.

Onanuga claimed that people criticizing the election commission because the results that were recorded at the polling places were not transmitted were being malicious.

He insisted it was because “the outcome of the election, especially the presidential election did not match their expectation.”

Part of his statement read: “PDP and LP must stop the blackmail against the judiciary

“I have witnessed many elections since 1979 and I can say without any equivocation that the 2023 election was the best, the most free and fair, the most transparent.

“Those who are pillorying the election and INEC, the electoral umpire are simply saying so because the outcome of the election, especially the presidential election did not match their expectation.

“The Labour Party and the PDP and their surrogates, some of them lawyers, clerics and some ethnic groups have also mounted desperate campaigns for the postponement of the inauguration of the President-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu on 29 May.
