Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) nominee for president, has come under fire from his ‘Obidents’ fans for visiting Prof. Wole Soyinka.
The Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, was visited by the former governor of Anambra State on Sunday, according to prior news reports. On his official Twitter page, the Nobel Laureate described the encounter as enriching.
The LP candidate was reportedly required to make amends for the recent verbal spats that broke out between his followers and the Nobel laureate.

Remember how the Professor had been criticized by the Obi’s fans on social media after he claimed that the LP candidate was to blame for creating “a climate of fear” in the nation by criticizing everyone who disagrees with him in a statement headlined “Fascism on Course.”
He described Obidients as “one of the most repulsive, off-putting concoctions I ever encountered in any political arena, ” saying their “refusal to entertain corrective criticism, even differing perspectives of the same position has become a badge of honour and certificate of commitment.”
But speaking late Sunday, Obi said his visit to Soyinka “was intended to erase the needless misconceptions about the relationship between the great icon and the OBIdient family”.
On social media, the former governor of Anambra’s meeting with the Nobel laureate has generated debate. Many of his followers have voiced their anger, arguing that he shouldn’t have gone to see someone who has previously called them a threat to the judiciary.

Reacting to photos of the visit, Chigozirim Aliyu Emeakayi wrote; “Today, Peter Obi visited Prof. Wole Soyinka, the same man his moronic supporters insulted and abused. Today, Peter Obi is hustling to take a picture with Soyinka. Who is the Boss now?”
