Sheikh Iskil Awwal, a well-known Muslim cleric, has made comments regarding Bola Tinubu’s victory in the 2023 elections and what his presidency should entail as preparations are made for the May 29 inauguration ceremonies.

Despite Tinubu-Kashim Shettima’s victory being contested by candidates from the opposing camps at the presidential election appeal tribunal, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is making top-notch preparations for the pair to be sworn in on May 29.

However, Sheikh Awwal stressed the importance of Nigerians, particularly Imams and Alfas throughout the nation, praying for the new administration during today’s Friday Jumat prayer session in his remarks prior to the inauguration ceremonies.

“I urge all Muslims that on the day of Jumah, Imams and Alfas should perform a special prayer for Nigeria, the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Buhari, for God to make Nigeria a better country,” he was quoted as saying.

Peace is necessary in Nigeria, Sheikh Awwal emphasized. He asserted that no nation can endure hardship and violence, and that religious leaders should pray for peace and advancement in Nigeria as well as for the incoming president.

The Muslim leader added that the nation-wide special prayer is to be offered for God’s consolation and plentiful blessings, particularly in the South-West States.
