In the afternoon of Friday, a fire completely destroyed the renowned Okobaba plank market in Ebute Metta, Lagos.

According to reports that reached Newsmen, certain areas of the market caught fire as vendors were conducting their routine business.

As of the time of reporting, the inferno’s origin could not be determined.

In the meantime, a fire on Monday night seriously damaged Abdullahi Ganduje’s personal residence, the outgoing governor of Kano state.

The event was confirmed by the Kano State Fire Service, who said that the injured property is situated on Miyangu Street in the Nassarawa GRA neighborhood of Kano.

As soon as they arrived on the site, firemen were able to contain the fire, according to Saminu Abdullahi, the State Fire Service’s public relations officer.

According to eyewitnesses who talked with Punch, the fire started at a location on the property where Ganduje kept his cows.

Unfortunately, a number of animals died in the fire, and a great deal of expensive property was also destroyed.

Some sources claim that although the precise cause of the fire is still unknown, it might have started during metal welding work being done at the home.
