The Labour Party’s (LP) nomination of Julius Abure as national chairman has been approved.

On Friday, a State High Court in Edo issued the ruling, tossing Lamidi Apapa’s legal team’s lawsuit.

Newsmen is aware that Abure had received a notice of suspension from some party members at the ward level.

However, Justice Emmanuel Aihamoje of the high court dismissed the lawsuit on Friday because it lacked merit.

Aihamoje claimed that the party ward executive in Uromi in Ward 3 lacked the authority under the LP constitution, specifically Act 13 & 17 and the Electoral Act 2022, as modified, to depose the national head of the party during the court session, which allegedly lasted nearly two hours on Friday.

In order to prevent Lamidi Apapa and his side from ousting or suspending Abure as the national chairman until a new national convention of the party is called, the judge in Suit No. HUC/21/2023 went ahead and issued a perpetual injunction.

The supposed wards three executives, according to Aihamoje, who suspended the party’s national chairman, acted outside of their authority under the Labour Party Constitution.

The LP Ward 3 Chairman, Thompson Ehiguese, addressed the media following the court’s decision today and declared that the ruling has put an end to swindlers posing as labor party members in the ward.
