According to reports, Abdulrasheed Bawa, the chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has declined to discuss the specifics of his meeting with President Bola Tinubu.

Bawa and the President held a private meeting, according to earlier news reports.

It was learned that Bawa traveled to the president’s office for a vital meeting after arriving at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja at around 2:00 PM on Wednesday.

The meeting is taking place just a day after Tinubu ordered the Department of State Services (DSS) to leave the anti-graft commission’s Ikoyi office.

Though the reason for the meeting in the Villa today is not yet known, there are rumors that it may be related to the alleged altercation between the EFCC and the DSS.

After the meeting with the President, however, the head of the EFCC, who was apparently present together with Mele Kyari, the CEO of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), remained mum about the reason for their meeting with Tinubu.

Bawa reportedly told Channels TV after the meeting that all he had done was go in to update the President before leaving with the head of the NNPCL.

After the petroleum firm raised the price of Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) on Wednesday, Tinubu met with the heads of the EFCC and NNPCL.
