Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) candidate for president in the 2023 elections, has stated his faith in the legal system to uphold justice in the lawsuit contesting the results of the election on February 25.

Obi finished third in the election results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), it should be reminded.

The former governor of Anambra State, however, disagreed with the results and went to court to defend his “stolen mandate.”

President Bola Tinubu, the election winner, was testified against by Obi and the Labour Party’s first witness on Tuesday in court.

Shortly after the court session, Obi reaffirmed his intention to using all available legal options to get the electoral process resolved in his favor through the courts. He made this statement via his Twitter account.

Additionally, he urged his followers to uphold tranquility and continue to be dedicated to the idea of a new Nigeria.

He wrote: “The Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT) resumed sitting today. Datti Baba-Ahmed and I were present in court, with members of LP and the Obidients family.

“I have maintained that diligently following the rule of law in our quest to resolve the electoral impasse remains sacrosanct. The judiciary is part of our democratic process and a critical governance tool which must be held in high esteem.

“As we journey through the judicial process, I urge all Nigerians to remain committed to the vision of a New Nigeria. Nigeria remains our common patrimony and in unity, we must sacrifice to make it better. -PO”
