JUST IN: Tinubu Appoints Femi Gbajabiamila As Chief Of Staff

President Bola Tinubu is said to have named Femi Gbajabiamila, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, as his chief of staff two days after his inauguration.

An assistant to Gbajabiamila, Olanrenwaju Smart, told PM News in a chat on Thursday that his principal was appointed by the President following several hours of discussions and consultations.

According to Smart, Tinubu chose the Speaker to help him persuade members of the National Assembly to support his proposals and policies.

After a final meeting with stakeholders that concluded on Thursday morning at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, he said, the President chose Gbajabiamila.

Gbajabiamila would have to renounce his election to the House of Representatives for a sixth term since he had not yet received his Certificate of Return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Other party candidates who had abandoned their bids to represent Surulere Constituency 1 in the House of Representatives would also be given a second chance by this development.
