The removal of Iyorchia Ayu as the PDP’s national chairman has been sustained by a Makurdi High Court.

Ayu lost his party membership in his Igyorov Council Ward of the state’s Gboko Local Government Area, according to the court presided over by Justice Maurice Ikpambese, the state’s chief judge.

Justice Ikpambese ruled that Ayu could no longer serve as the PDP’s national chairman.

According to Newsmen, Ayu was suspended by the Benue PDP Ward Executive Committee for not paying his dues and engaging in alleged anti-party actions.

After Ayu was suspended, a party member named Terhide Utaan successfully petitioned the court for an order barring Ayu from impersonating the party’s national chairman.

But Ayu moved to court to contest the court’s jurisdiction and the plaintiff’s locus standi through his attorney, Johnson Usman.

He insisted that the plaintiff had not used the PDP’s internal dispute resolution process, asserting that the subject was an internal party concern.

In his decision, the judge noted that Ayu had not shown evidence that he had paid the membership subscription fee.
