Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State reportedly escorted the oil marketers to the conference, according to news sources.

The President’s meeting with oil marketers takes place in the midst of the debate and demonstrations over the elimination of subsidies on Premium Motor Spirit, more commonly known as gasoline.

The President mentioned eliminating the gasoline subsidy during his inaugural address.

According to reports, Tinubu has instructed the National Economic Council (NEC) to start the process of intervening to find ways to mitigate the effects of the elimination of the fuel subsidy.

The Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, reportedly revealed the development on Wednesday while leading several significant oil marketers on a courtesy call to the President at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The governor asserts that while he recognizes that the elimination of the fuel subsidy will result in some hardship for Nigerians, the NEC, which is chaired by Vice President Kashim Shettima, has been given orders to begin developing a plan for how to implement the intervention process.

According to Abiodun, the President’s decision to end the subsidy system shows his courage and resolve to stop the hemorrhage that has plagued the nation for years.
