From the meeting between President Bola Tinubu and state governors and elect senators from the All Progressives Congress (APC) platform, further information has come to light.

Prior to the opening of the 10th National Assembly, the Nigerian president reportedly met with legislators and APC leaders on Wednesday night in the Presidential Villa.

Muktar Betara, Yusuf Adamu Gagdi, Miriam Onuoha, and Sada Soli, candidates for the Speakership, were present at the meeting despite being invited, but the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Ahmed Idris Wase, and Aminu Sani Jaji, who were also running for the position, were noticeably absent.

He claimed that the President was clear about what he wanted the legislators to do, namely support the party’s nominees for the Senate and House of Representatives to take over as the next 10th National Assembly’s leaders.

“It was done in 40 minutes. The President was clear, he urged us to unite and work for the party’s candidates. The party chairman and others that spoke at the meeting reiterated the same call for us to forge a common front.

“They both told us the fact that if we don’t unite, we may end up having a divided Assembly, which will not augur well for the President and the nation. That was what happened at the meeting we held with the President,” Daily Trust quoted the lawmaker saying.
