Hon. Ikenga Ugochinyere, a member of the House of Representatives representing Imo State’s Udeato Federal Constituency, has claimed that Senator Abdullahi Adamu’s romance with Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma cost him the position of national chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Adamu reportedly resigned from his position with the ruling party’s national Secretary on Sunday night, before of the party’s National Executive Council, NEC, scheduled on Wednesday.

In response to the news, Ugochinyere claimed that Adamu was consumed by his friendship with Governor Uzodinma, causing him to step into several political landmines that have now cost him his post.

Ugochinyere urged President Tinubu and APC governors to complete the cleansing by removing Uzodinma as chairman of the Progressives Governors Forum (PGF) and replacing him with Ogun State governor, Dapo Abiodun, in a statement he personally signed and made available to DAILY POST correspondent on Monday in Abuja.

Though he is uninterested in the ruling party’s politics, he is concerned about deceitful and un-loyal persons masquerading as faithful and looking for a method to persuade the President and security chiefs into maintaining Imo a bloody battlefield.

He believes that if Uzodinma remains as PGF chairman, President Tinubu should be alert and brace himself for additional betrayals and sabotage.

Ugochinyere remembered how Adamu and Uzodinma allegedly fought Tinubu during the presidential primaries.

He emphasized Adamu’s gestapo-style announcement of former Senate President Ahmad Lawan as the party’s consensus presidential candidate, in contrast to the ruling party’s NWC position.

During the campaign, Uzodinma grudgingly endorsed Senator Godswill Akpabio, Senator Jibrin Barau, Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, and Hon. Benjamin Kalu as consensus candidates for National Assembly leadership seats.

Ugochinyere pointed out that Adamu’s recent remark that the ruling party had no say in the appointment of NASS key officers was yet another indication of his treachery to President Tinubu.

All these, the lawmaker said, were the handiwork of Adamu and Uzodinma, adding that it’s dangerous if the governor is not removed as chairman of PGF, “as they worked hand in hand to sabotage President Tinubu.”

He said: “After Adamu’s resignation, Uzodinma should be next. Tinubu has to complete the cleansing to avoid further sabotage and instigation against him now and in the near future. Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State can manipulate the minds of new governors.

“The ruling party’s NWC can also be manipulated with characters like Uzodinma running around. The only way to bring back stability and genuine working relationship between President and governors is for Progressive Governors Forum chairmanship to be given to a man with proven character and integrity and not a political gate crasher.”
