Chief Bode George, a former deputy national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has stated that the country’s 1999 constitution is the reason things aren’t working.
According to a former military governor of Ondo State, the country’s constitution, which is based on the American constitution, needs to be revised since it will not lead the country to the promised land.
George announced this on Tuesday during an event held at the Function Suite of the Sheraton Hotel in Ikeja, Lagos State.
The PDP chieftain claimed that the Nigerian constitution is military in nature and that it should be revised.

He said, “Having served that long in the military, I can authoritatively confirm to you that the Nigerian constitution is absolutely military in setting. In the military, orders come from top to bottom.
“But in a democratic dispensation, powers come from the people to the top. But we have copied the American constitution, and that’s why things are not working. We must deceive ourselves if we think this constitution will take us to the promised land.”
In addition, the PDP chieftain praised the idea of state policing, saying it would be a very effective way of securing the country.
