Court Charges Sales Girl For Stealing Employer’s N2.3m

On Wednesday, a sales representative for a food seller named Goodness Innocent testified in an Ebute-Metta Chief Magistrate’s Court about allegedly stealing N2.3 million from her company.
Two accusations of conspiracy and stealing have been filed against Innocent, 21, by the police.

Inspector Cyriacus Osuji, the police prosecutor, testified in court that the defendant and other suspects who remain at large planned to perpetrate the alleged crimes.
According to Osuji, Innocent took a bank ATM card from the complainant, Kehinde Odiye, who was also her supervisor, and withdrew N2.3 million.

He said the incident took place on July 16, 2023, around 5pm, at No. 168, Awolowo Road, Ikoyi, Lagos State.
According to him, the offence committed contravened Sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

Magistrate Olanike Olagbende granted the defendant N1m bail with one surety.
Innocent will, however, remain in the Kirikiri Custodial Centre until the bail conditions are met.
Magistrate Olagbende adjourned the case till August 10, 2023.
