According to Anaedoonline.ng, the President chose Mr. Jim Obazee, a former chief executive officer of the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria, as the special investigator to probe the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and related businesses.

President Muhammadu Buhari removed Obazee in 2017 after he probed the CBN under the government of Sanusi Lamido Sanusi.

His probe allegedly discovered wrongdoing in Nigeria’s central bank at the time, and his suggestion led to Sanusi’s suspension by former President Goodluck Jonathan in February 2014.

In an unexpected turn of events, stories have surfaced about controversies involving Obazee himself. According to this platform, he was allegedly convicted in 2016 of sexually harassing his former Personal Assistant, Mrs Abimbola Patricia Yakubu.

According to reports, when Yakubu accused Obazee of sexual harassment in 2013, he was the executive secretary of the Financial Reporting Council (FRC).

An allegation that resulted to her dismissal and apparently compelled her to sue the FRC for wrongful termination of her appointment and covering up sexual assault by its leadership.

Mrs. Yakubu won the complaint in the Kano Division of the National Industrial Court, as it was later revealed.

The matter was tried by Justice Oyebiola Oyewunmi, who not only ordered the Claimant’s reinstatement but also awarded her N5 million against Mr. Obazee. The court, in its decision on November 24, 2016, ordered the Claimant’s reinstatement with full payment of her salaries, including for the years she was away from work over the illegal termination.

The court found that Yakubu “suffered unquantifiable mental and psychological trauma, low self-worth and dignity” from Mr Obazee’s treatment.”

“I award the sum of N5,000,000.00 against the 2nd defendant for sexually harassing the claimant, discrimination against her, inhuman and executive recklessness of the 2nd defendant, thereby creating a hostile working environment for the claimant and for the violation of her human dignity and self-worth-respect,” the judged was quoted.

It was unclear whether he filed an appeal against the ruling.

Obazee reportedly got himself involved in Nigeria’s power play again when he was linked to the controversial Corporate Governance Code 2016, which forced the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, to resign and named Joseph Obayemi as his successor.

He argued for the new law so strongly that he reportedly warned church leaders who objected to the government interfering in the “work of God,” that if they felt they should not be regulated, they could “take their churches to heaven.”

The new rule requires heads of churches and mosques to quit after 20 years on the job or when they reach the age of 70.
