NEMA Confirms Helicopter Crash In Lagos, Reveals Owner (Photos)

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has confirmed the Tuesday evening crash of a helicopter in Lagos State.

According to the agency, the helicopter, registered 5NCCQ, belonged to Airfirst Hospitality and Tour Ltd and crashed near Lagos Airport.

Two crew members and two passengers were recovered from the wreckage, according to NEMA.

In a statement, NEMA stated that its personnel, as well as those of LASEMA, the Fire Service, security agencies, and other stakeholders, conducted search and rescue operations.

UPDATE: Four Rescued Alive In Lagos Helicopter Crash

Anaedoonline.ng had stated that the chopper caught fire after it crashed.

Four occupants of a helicopter that crashed in front of a United Bank for Africa (UBA) branch in Lagos State’s Ikeja district have been recovered alive.

Gboyega Akosile, the spokesman for Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, stated in a statement on Tuesday that the four occupants of the plane were rescued alive.

Akosile revealed that the four casualties had been sent to the hospital for additional care and treatment.

He also stated that the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) and the Lagos Fire Service are on the scene.

He wrote: “The helicopter containing 4 persons including the pilot crash landed in front of the UBA branch in Ikeja.

“All four casualties have been retrieved from the aircraft alive. They have been transferred to the hospital for further care. LASEMA, Lagos Fire Service on the ground.”
