Segun Arinze, a former leader of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), has revealed that he will portray Moshood Abiola in a biopic about Kudirat Abiola, the late politician’s wife.

On Friday, the 57-year-old actor posted a photo of himself on the set of his latest film on Instagram.

He donned an agbada with a pattern similar to the one Abiola wore on June 12, 1993, to the polls.

The question is, “What does this remind you of?” His post was captioned by Segun Arinze.

On the Social Democratic Party (SDP) platform, Nigerian politician Moshood Kashimawo Olawale, commonly known as MKO, ran for and won the June 12 general election in 1993.

However, the election was void due to the military’s then leader, General Ibrahim Babangida.

General Sani Abacha, Babangida’s successor, detained and imprisoned Abiola.

While her husband was being held in custody, his wife Kudirat was murdered on June 4, 1996, allegedly by operatives of the government.

One month after Abacha’s passing, on July 7, 1998, Abiola passed away while being held in custody.
