Bosun Tijani, an Ogun State minister nominee, apologised, and popular news anchor Rufai Oseni responded.

According to Newsmen, Tijani apologised to senators for calling them “morons” in a 2021 Twitter post during his ministerial screening.

In order to be approved as a minister, Tijani, the CEO and co-founder of CcHub, stood before the Senate.

The minority leader in the Senate, Simon Nwadkon, read aloud a tweet attributed to Tijani during the screening in which the candidate called senators “morons”

In a tweet from 2021, Tijani criticised the Senate’s procedure for selecting and confirming political appointments.

When responding to the allegations made by the Senate, Tijani begged for forgiveness and said that he had written the article out of frustration.

“So I want to profusely apologise to everyone in this hall, including anyone, anywhere in Nigeria that may have been offended by everything I said.

“I begged that in the process of accepting my apology, you look at the undertone of everything I have said. I did not say it to spite. I said it out of frustration and love. Please accept my sincere apologies,” he said.

In response to Tijani’s apology, Oseni questioned why the senators were debating the nominee’s qualifications rather than focusing on a tweet from the past.

Speaking via Twitter he wrote, “Same senate that refused to review petitions against El-Rufai are so excited about Bosun Tijani’s tweet. Rather than ask the man questions on how to develop technology and give us substance,it was about how to make him apologize for his convictions!“
