When Nigerian Police Force agents carried out raids on alleged Indigenous individuals of Biafra (IPOB) hideouts in Enugu State, at least three individuals were killed.

In a statement made available to newsmen on Friday morning, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, the police public relations officer for the State Command, stated that while three of the suspects were neutralised, others managed to flee with serious bullet wounds following a gunfight with police.

Ndukwe claimed that the confrontation took place in the Imufu community of Enugu State’s Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area.

According to the police spokesman, the thugs’ belongings included four pump action pistols, a locally made revolver and pistol with 67 live rounds in each, military camouflage outfits, what appeared to be textiles bearing IPOB insignia, trinkets that appeared to be amulets, and more.

“The combined team, in the morning hours of Aug. 10, raided a suspected IPOB/ESN camp at Imufu in Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area, and the team engaged in a gun duel with the criminals.

“However, three of the hoodlums were neutralised in the ensuing gunfight, while many others escaped with varying degrees of gunshot wounds.

“Preliminary investigation reveals that the criminals were responsible for the shooting and killing of two Neighbourhood Watch Group security personnel on July 21 at about 1 a.m., at Umuagama in Enugu-Ezike community.
