Ahead of the state’s governorship election on November 11, 2023, Hope Uzodinma, the governor of Imo State and the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for governor, has dumper his deputy, Placid Njoku.

According to information obtained by Anaedoonline.ng, Uzodinma officially presented Chinyere Ekomaru, his running companion, on Saturday at a ceremony held in the state capital of Owerri.

When explaining why he dropped Njoku and went with Ekomaru, Uzodinma stated, “The choice of a new running mate does not imply that he has concerns with the current Deputy Governor Placid Njoku. He stated, “Ecumenical and political permutations are to blame for the development.”

Senators Athan (Imo North) and Uzodimma (Imo West) are from the same senatorial zone as Ogunewe and Senator Anyanwu (Imo East).

However, insecurity-related issues, including as house fires, murders of locals, underdevelopment in rural regions, and worker welfare, have remained top of mind in the run-up to the election.
