Russia’s President Putin Won’t Attend Prigozhin’s Funeral – Kremlin

Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia, would not attend Yevgeny Prigozhin’s burial, a Kremlin official said journalists on Tuesday.

According to Anaedoonline.ng, Prigozhin was reported as dead last week.

Prigozhin and nine other persons were reportedly on board a private plane that crashed on Wednesday northwest of Moscow, killing everyone on board.

However, Prigozhin’s passing was formally acknowledged late Sunday when Russian authorities stated that genetic testing revealed the accident victims matched the names on the jet’s manifest.

The leader of the Wagner squad passed away shortly after attempting to overthrow the Russian military hierarchy.

However, Dmitri S. Peskov, the Kremlin’s spokesperson, was cited by Russian official media as claiming that the Kremlin had no additional information regarding Prigozhin’s funeral.

As of the time of reporting, it was not certain what would happen, when it would happen, or whether the public would be allowed to attend.

When asked if Putin will attend the funeral, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov responded, “The president’s presence is not envisaged.”

The 62-year-old Prigozhin’s funeral arrangements have not been made public, he claimed.

“We have no information specifically about the funeral. The decision in this regard is made by family and friends,” Peskov added.

Putin last week described Prigozhin as a man who had made “serious mistakes in his life, but he achieved the right results.”

The Kremlin has denied rumours that it planned the disaster as payback for Wagner’s June march on Moscow.
