Elodimuo Set For Appeal After Tribunal Orders Re-run In 8 Polling Units In Nnewi

Hon. Uchenna Elodimuo, the All Progressive Grand Alliance’s (APGA’s) candidate for the House of Representatives in the federal constituencies of Nnewi North, Nnewi South, and Ekwusigo on February 25, 2023, has stated he intends to appeal the decision of the national assembly elections petitions tribunal that required a rerun in eight polling places in Anambra state’s Nnewi North local government area.

During the first iteration of his medical outreach, Hon. Elodimuo told reporters in Ozubulu, Ekwusigo LGA, of the state that the mandate was given to him voluntarily and couldn’t be stolen under any circumstances.

In a recent ruling on a petition submitted to it by candidate for the Young Progressive Party (YPP), Amb. Peter Uzokwe, the national assembly elections petitions tribunals in Awka, the capital of Anambra state, ordered a rerun in 8 voting units in Nnewi North LGA. However, the APGA candidate’s response indicated that he was still reviewing the ruling and might appeal it.

He said, “I am aware of the tribunal judgement on our mandate, and the call for a re-run in 8 polling units in Nnewi North LGA. But there is no course for alarm. We’re studying the judgement, and will possibly appeal the rulling within the stipulated time.”

Regarding the purpose of his free medical mission, he explained that it was one of the events planned to honour his 100 days in the House of Representatives and to help his constituents fulfil his campaign pledges.

He listed the various health conditions that were dealt with at the health outreach, including minor operations, an eye clinic, diagnosis, etc. He also mentioned that medical personnel from various health institutions were brought in to care for patients.

The outreach will span nine days and include communities in the local governments of Nnewi North, Nnewi South, and Ekwusigo, according to the medical team’s leader, Dr. Okoyedike Olisa.
