According to the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT), the FCT does not have any distinct advantages over other states.

According to Anaedoonline.ng, Justice Haruna Tsammani, who was appointed to rule on the substantive case brought by Obi and LP, said this on Wednesday.

The FCT is not more significant than other states in the nation, according to Justice Tsammani.

Recall During the 2023 presidential election, Peter Obi of the Labour Party received more over 25% of the votes polled in the FCT.

Arguments in favour of and against Section 134 (1) and (2) of the 1999 Constitution of Nigeria (as amended), which states that in order to be declared duly elected, a presidential candidate must receive a majority of the votes cast in an election where there are two or more candidates and at least 25% of the votes in at least two-thirds of the 36 States and Federal Capital Territory (FCT) of Nigeria.
