Prince Adewole Adebayo, the Social Democratic Party’s (SDP) nominee for president in 2023, has referred to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as the nation’s main hub for electoral fraud.

This was said by him on Tuesday while participating in a discussion with a variety of Nigerians on the online interactive forum HaveYourSay247, which was presided over by Rudolf Okonkwo.

Prior to the February 25 presidential election, Adebayo recounted having cautioned key players about the electoral umpire’s dishonesty, emphasising that INEC was only deceiving everyone by promising to transfer results electronically.

The attorney questioned how anyone could put their faith in INEC to hold a fair election when they can’t be approached to register political parties, submit reports, or extend invitations to party conventions without buying their cooperation.

“INEC is the headquarters of fraud,” he declared.

Speaking about his election campaigns, Adewole claimed that he travelled to every corner of the nation and that even famous Nigerians like Obafemi Awolowo and Nnamdi Azikiwe, who were at the height of their popularity, were unable to win the presidency.

“The world hasn’t had more than nine people like Zik, yet he couldn’t win the election to become president of Nigeria,” he argued.

The SDP candidate went on to explain why he decided against challenging the results of the presidential election in court, claiming that doing so would have been a waste of time because not every wrong can be righted by a court.

He said: “The court is not a place you go and complain in general terms.

“99% of wrongs in society cannot be remedied by the court. When you approach the court, you have to narrow your complaints down to specific legal issues. This is something that election petitioners must understand.”
