In a distressing turn of events, 25 choir members of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) in Oke Igan, Akure, the capital of Ondo State, Nigeria, have been abducted. The incident unfolded on a fateful Friday afternoon around 3 PM while the group was en route to Ifon, located in the Ose council area of the state, to attend a burial ceremony.
According to a church member who shared details with the press, the victims were traveling to pay their last respects to a fellow church member when they fell victim to the kidnappers. The assailants struck suddenly, causing panic and chaos among the choir members.
Tragically, the vehicle that was transporting the victims to the burial ceremony was subsequently abandoned on the highway, serving as a chilling reminder of the harrowing ordeal they had endured.

Upon learning of the incident, the spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, Funmi Odunlami, confirmed that they had received reports regarding a church bus with the inscription “CAC” being abandoned in the Elegbeka area. There were strong suspicions that the passengers inside the vehicle had been abducted.
In response to this alarming situation, Odunlami stated that the police had swiftly taken action by deploying the Anti-Kidnapping Squad and other tactical teams to the area. Their primary objective is to rescue the victims and bring all those involved in this heinous crime to justice.
