Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s nominee for president, stated that having all the qualifications was not necessary to be a great leader.

According to Anaedoonline.ng, Peter Obi made this claim on Monday morning during an appearance on Arise TV in answer to a question on how he felt about a US District Court order directing Chicago State University (CSU) to make Bola Tinubu’s academic records public.

Obi insisted that people’s entry into the workplace is a lot more essential process than what they do once there.

“The process in which people come into office, or assume or achieve anything is far more fundamental than what they do thereafter. It is important that people come through the right door and not just jump through the widow and start saying things like ‘okay, lets move on,” he stressed.

He continued by saying that the Labour Party is contesting the process, and that must logically end before anything else.

He continued saying, “The issue of leaders doing things that are honest and truthful is the foundation of which you build society.

“If you look at what is going on in Nigeria today, there’s so many cases of certificate and age falsification even within the leaders. There is no way people can be doing these and be able to do the right things and this is not good morally and a sign should be given to the society.

Presidential Tribunal: Why INEC Can’t Defend Tinubu’s Qualifications – Atiku

“So many great people in the world who did not go to school. In America today, one of the greatest presidents, Abraham Lincoln did not get a formal education because he came from an extremely poor family. But when you read his history, it shows that he came from a very poor home and didn’t get a high education.

“He didn’t have to say he did PHD, here or did this other certification there, which brings the credibity of our nation into question.”

He continued by saying that in order to be successful, a candidate must be honest about their background. This is more important than having the best qualifications in the world.
