The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, has called upon the people of Nigeria to remain patient in the face of the current economic challenges under President Bola Tinubu’s administration. The monarch’s appeal came during his visit to his family compound as part of the Olojo Annual Festival’s grand finale in the Oketase area of Ile-Ife on Monday.

Acknowledging the trials that Nigerians are currently enduring, the Ooni emphasized the significance of this period in the nation’s history. “I know that people are passing through difficult periods in which they are not finding life easy, and truly this is a challenging period,” he empathetically stated. He also conveyed his belief that, following the conclusion of the festival, the country would regain its equilibrium, and the problems faced by its citizens would soon be resolved.

The Ooni’s message was one of endurance and support for leadership. He urged everyone to remain steadfast and stand by their leaders during this trying time. “We are almost getting there,” he remarked, drawing a powerful analogy, “for gold has to pass through fire before becoming shining.” He emphasized that the government alone could not overcome the current challenges without the collective efforts of the people.

However, it’s worth noting that not everyone shares Ooni’s optimism about President Tinubu’s administration. Some critics believe that the route to Tinubu’s presidency was marred by fraudulent activities, which has cast doubt on the expectations for his leadership.
